Jon Rose -
Concert Hands Composer

Although living near Boston made Berklee School of Music the obvious
choice, Jon chose to audition for and attend the University of Miami
School of Music in Coral Gables, Florida. There he received a
Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano under the instruction of Vince
Maggio (former students include Bruce Hornsby, T. Lavitz, and Mike
Gerber). Prior to graduation, Jon was already making connections
outside of the University and playing gigs at South Florida venues.
While the demand for his services steadily increased, he continued
his education and received a Masters of Music in Media Writing and
Music Production under department head Raul Murciano PhD.
Jon's hallmark is his versatility in performance, style, and
production capabilities. By playing solo piano jobs for many years,
he has amassed a wealth of standard songs and showtunes in his vast
repertoire. He also has performed in and assisted with several
musical theater productions such as
Rags,
Hairspray and
Chicago. Jon's credentials
span from being a solid pit orchestra musician to writing
arrangements for major shows. He also is a highly sought-after
accompanist. Jon has played with many acclaimed recording artists
such as
Jon Secada,
Tony Sandler, and
Christian Castro in shows that
have varied in size from intimate gatherings to major performance
arenas.
While living in Miami and absorbing the city's cultural diversity,
Jon has added various latin piano styles to his bag of tricks. Not
about to be pigeon-holed into one or two styles, Jon recently toured
the US and abroad playing rock organ and singing background vocals
for teen heart throb and Columbia Records recording artist
Teddy Geiger. Jon is also an
accomplished arranger, most recently having written string
arrangements for a
Ricky Martin CD/DVD, and for
Tito Puente Jr. symphonic
dates. Jon's production credits include the composition and
production of three jingles for a beverage called
BAWLS. He also wrote and
produced theme songs for two prominent Miami-based television shows.
Jon's most recent projects include playing keyboards for Sony
recording artist Alicastro, as well as touring with Jon Secada as
his pianist/keyboardist.
